Services & Pricing

Important Note:

I am presently not accepting any new work. I am in the process of changing jobs and moving, so I would be unable to guarantee a time frame for the start of work or a turnaround time. Thank you for your understanding.

FAQ

I often get asked some common questions concerning when and why a saxophone needs work. If you aren't sure, this will help you get an idea of what you need.

Overhauls

Most of the jobs I do are overhauls. That means a full disassembly and cleaning, body straightening and dent repair, tone hole leveling and other physical adjustments where necessary, correction of mechanical wear in keys, neck tenon and receiver resizing if necessary and lapping, alignment of key cups, new pads and corks, and key height adjustments.

It's a slow, time-consuming, exacting process... but the end result is a saxophone that plays at least as good as new.

An optional treatment with Renaissance Wax, a product formulated for museum use on bronze, brass, and silver artifacts to preserve and protect them, is available to reduce future wear and polishing needs on silver and bare brass saxophones. A few of my saxophones have silver necks, and I use Renaissance Wax myself to keep them looking good.

The standard pricing below applies to instruments with normal wear, and does not include postage for remote customers. Additional damage, such as from being dropped or heavy water exposure, may incur an additional cost. I can usually give an estimate for such additional repairs in a video call where you 'give a tour' of the instrument, but quotes can only be provided after I have inspected an instrument in-person. Instruments with very uncommonly low wear may receive a discount only upon the completion of work.

Oil Changes / COA

Also called 'clean, oil, & adjust', which decently sums up what is included in this service.

Saxophones have a lot of moving parts. Dust and other things will work their way into your keys over time and eventually start to behave as abrasive grit. Old oil needs to be removed and replaced to keep key movement efficient and prevent excessive wear, and since disassembling a saxophone is part of the process, it's a great opportunity for the instrument to be well-cleaned. Basic servicing is included with all oil changes.

Prices below are estimates, and do not include postage for remote customers. Actual pricing will vary based upon the amount of work required, and in some cases saxophones may require more extensive work than is normally included in servicing. In such cases, we will discuss the details before arriving at an agreement.
